Are you just getting started with horses?  You could be a parent or partner of someone with horses or would love to learn more about the magic of horses, but doing it safely and correctly.

This course will teach you about horse behaviour and the safest way to handle and care for them.

What Units of Competency are Included?

In your Introduction To Horses course (RGR10118 Certificate I in Racing), the following units of competency are included:

Core (4)
  • ACMEQU205 Apply knowledge of horse behaviour
  • BSBWHS201 Contribute to the health and safety of self and others
  • RGRPSH101 Catch and handle quiet horses under supervision
  • RGRPSH102 Perform basic stable duties
Electives (2)
  • AHCLSK211 Provide feed for livestock
  • BSBWOR202 Organise and complete daily work activities

How Long Will My Course Take?

This course to introduce you to horses safely and correctly has been designed for full-time study, over 12 weeks (14 weeks including holidays).

However, it could take less time if you already have previous experience with horses or plan to study for more than 23 hours per week plan to study full time.

If you plan to study this course as well as school, college, or University then please talk to us about a flexible schedule that allows more study time over your holidays.

If you already have previous experience and would like to study full-time, this course about learning the basics of safe horse handling and basic care of horses could take much less. Simply let us know if you would like to ‘fast track’ your course!

Of course, you may study part-time if you like and your enrolment will be valid for up to three years. If you would like to re-enrol for a further two years, simply contact us for your updated enrolment details.
