CPPSS00059 Batons and Handcuffs Skill Set

It is a very commonly asked question – when can a security officer carry/use batons and handcuffs? The answer – when they have been trained, have authority from their employer and when they have a genuine reason (eg. patrols, working alone, night shifts, etc). They are NOT to be carried for crowd control, private investigations, debt collections or when off duty.
This skill set describes the skills and knowledge required to safely and effectively carry and use batons and handcuffs. This skill set may provide credit towards CPP31318 Certificate III in Security Operations and CPP31418 Certificate III in Close Protection Operations.
Our instructors are industry professionals with extensive experience in the use of defensive weapons.
Students will usually complete this skill set as part of our Firearms and Defensive Tactics course.
Outline
This qualification is customisable to suit the needs of individual participants and includes a total of two elective units.

- CPPSEC3110 Control persons using baton
- CPPSEC3111 Restrain persons using handcuffs
