Leadership is critical to developing a more people-centred health system that is equitable, effective and sustainable.
It is a central attribute in the delivery of safe, quality patient care. Ineffective leadership has been found to be a contributing factor to patient complications.
Outline
The Advanced Leadership workshop is a one day (six hour) workshop where you will reflect on your own motivations, assumptions, values and behaviours to build your capability to initiate and lead transformative change in the health sector.
As part of the workshop, you will also gain access to the Effective Leadership in the Healthcare Setting online course, which serves as the pre-reading that informs the workshop content. You are required to complete the online course, which will be made available two weeks prior to the workshop.
The online course (pre-reading) consists of three modules:
- Module A: Identifying your leadership potential
- Module B: Developing your leadership
- Module C: Leadership today: philosophy, innovation, delivery
It is estimated that you will need to spend approximately three hours per module and nine hours in total on this course1, which can be completed over multiple days.
The AICG firmly believes that it is the individuals working in healthcare organisations that hold the power to reduce the occurrence of complications. By empowering these individuals through education, we can work towards improving patient safety and quality care and deliver better health outcomes for the community.
