Details

The practice of CSR has undergone a remarkable evolution since its inception. With roots in the industrial revolution, CSR has developed over time to become one of the most important measures of business today, influencing performance and shaping the world around us.

Today, CSR is seen as a key factor driving competitive advantage, contributing to the recruitment and retainment of employees and customers, and building strong brand value. It is vital in understanding an organisation’s true impacts on society and the environment and increasingly considered by investors.

This revamped half-day short course will introduce you to the tenets of corporate social responsibility and demonstrate its centrality in successful business performance. You will learn how CSR is practiced in Australia and around the globe and how it has reflected the social, political, economic and environmental issues of the day.

Using case studies, you will uncover how CSR is put into practice along with the challenges of implementation. Building on this, you will learn about the role of stakeholders and gain an understanding of the relationship to risk, reputation, governance, and innovation.

At the conclusion of this short course, participants will leave with:

  • a solid foundation in the context and development of CSR
  • insight into the different approaches to CSR around the world
  • an understanding of the emerging global architecture for CSR
  • knowledge about stakeholders, issues and risks
  • the ability to communicate the benefits and business case for CSR.

Whether you are beginning a new role in CSR or keen for a refreshing outlook on the topic, this short course is for you!

Past participants say:

“I recently attended the ACCSR’s CSR 101 Course run by Dr Leeora Black to gain insight into recent advances in the field both domestically and globally and to understand more about relevant frameworks to assist me in my role at WaterAid. This course is incredibly valuable for that purpose as well as gaining insight into where things may be headed as corporations take on a leadership role in ‘doing good’. This is the fourth ACCSR course I have attended and I am always amazed at the breadth and depth of the content shared; and always inspired to do better in my work by Leeora’s passion for the field.”
Mark Thomas, Corporate Relations manager, WaterAid

“This workshop provided a concise, manageable overview of CSR, delivered by an organisation that clearly understands the requirements for Australian and international businesses.”

“One of the best training facilitators I have encountered over many years and many courses and workshops.”

“This workshop was fantastic and Leeora is brilliant – fingers crossed for lots more workshops in Perth!”

“Leeora is fantastic – knows her CSR topics inside and out and provided great examples.”

“The broad range of topics, frameworks, and real-life examples were great.”
