This nationally recognised course, delivered in partnership with Allens Training Pty Ltd (RTO # 90909), teaches participants to assist a person suffering an anaphylactic reaction until the arrival of professional medical assistance. The Management of Anaphylaxis course covers the application of adrenaline auto-injecting devices (eg EpiPen/Anapen), the recognition, management, prevention and risk minimisation strategies related to allergic reactions and anaphylaxis.

This course is a national requirement for Child Care facilities and anyone interested in becoming a Child Care worker. The First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis course is recognised for the purpose of Regulations 136(1) (b) and 136(3) (b) of the National Regulations for Early Childhood Education and Care.

RAM Training Services runs this program as a 3 hour face to face course, plus assessment. Refresher courses can be completed in 1.5 hours face to face, plus assessment. With a combined program involving the Management of Anaphylaxis course and the Management of Asthma and CPR courses available over 4 to 5 hours in total, plus assessment – includes added savings!

The Industry recommends the renewal date for this individual course as 3 years, however due to certain industry requirements, some workers may be required to renew the qualifications every 12 months.

WHO SHOULD DO THIS COURSE

Any individual who is responsible for the care of others who may suffer from severe allergic reactions such as Anaphylaxis. Also its important to note that workers licensed in Children Services, Family Day Care and out-of-hours School Care need to indicate competency annually.

Ministerial Order 90 was introduced to the Education and Training Reform Act on July 14 2008. This regulation sets out clear requirements for all government and non-government schools with students enrolled who have been diagnosed as being at risk of anaphylaxis to have an anaphylaxis management strategy in place. Also the Children’s Services and Education Legislation Amendment (Anaphylaxis Management) Act 2008 requires all licensed workers in Children’s Services, Family Day Care and Out-of-school Hours Care to have an Anaphylaxis Management policy in place and to undertake the relevant training.

  • Develop and implement a communication plan to raise awareness of allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
