RIIWHS204D WORK SAFELY AT HEIGHTS

What is working at heights?

The simplest way to explain if a person is considered to be working at a height is; if there is a risk of a falling from one level to another that is reasonably likely to cause injury. So this could mean working from a ladder, scaffolding, roof, equipment, any activities that involve using a safety harness and even ground level work where someone may fall into a hole or pit … would be classified as working at heights and formal training is recommended.

In NSW and all other states, everyone has to meet duty of care obligations under the WHS Act and Regulation (2011), which state a PCBU must provide information, training, instruction or supervision that is necessary to protect all persons from risks to their health and safety arising from work carried out as part of the conduct of the business or undertaking.

Satisfactory completion of this course is a way to provide evidence that you have attended basic working at heights training.
